Witney’s 6th Annual Beer Festival

#witneybeerfestival
Micromarketing was a first-time sponsor at Witney’s 6th annual Beer Festival last month. The networking event (held the evening before) began with Reverend Toby Wright thanking everyone for their support and attendance with huge thanks going to Witney Round Table.

St Mary’s Church, The Local Community & Witney Round Table

St Mary’s was once a place where people from “all over” would come together for events and balls and this is exactly what the Church is working towards. Money raised from the beer sold at the festival is shared between local causes that Witney Round Table supports as well as the St Mary’s Church Roof Fund, securing it for a further 200 years. The Church is very thankful to all of the sponsors who are making it possible for the Church to rebuild the roof. Octoberfest on Saturday 7th October 2017 will offer beer and sausages and will be the earliest opportunity to enjoy the renewed work.

Witney Round Table

Witney Round Table is always looking for new members. Get in touch with them directly if you’re interested in getting involved, experiencing new activities, helping your local community and making new friends. Robert Courts Local Witney MP Local MP Robert Courts took the stage and was proud to boast about Witney’s 2 nano-breweries, thanking them for their beer.

Witney Blanket Hall

An interesting sponsor was Witney Blanket Hall. Built in 1721 by the Company of Blanket Makers, for over 120 years every blanket woven in Witney was once sent here to be weighed & measured. After 1845, each new mill established its own measuring and the Blanket Hall had to repurpose. Amongst other things, it became a Brewery, a Lemonade Factory and a Dancing School. Today, the Blanket Hall offers woollen blankets and throws, coffee, pies and more.

Local Talent & Bands

The live acts on Saturday were all fantastic. Witney certainly does have a lot of musical talent and Battle of the Bands proves this. Around 16 bands will compete for a chance to play to an audience of 5,000 at Witney’s Music Festival on June 10th.

Environmentally Friendly & Ethical Promotional Products

Micromarketing’s focus this year has been on maintaining and improving our ethical & environmental policies to go above and beyond. We have placed more focus on our UK manufactured portfolio of promotional products, including our recycled “Green & Good” range. Our CSR (Corporate & Social Responsibility) is a large part of this, therefore sponsoring Witney’s Beer festival was the perfect opportunity for us to support good causes locally as well as the Church.

Wychwood Brewery & The Barrel House

We enjoyed our sponsored barrel – number 6, the Shotover Scholar. It was fitting for us to sponsor such an event as our business operates from The Barrel House over by the Wychwood Brewery in the centre of town. Wychwood Brewery produces on average 50,000 barrels of cask ale a year, one of the UK’s largest brewers of organic ales! All in all, the Witney Beer festival gave us a great opportunity to find out more about local businesses (and taste some great local beer).

In the words of Witney Round Table’s chairman, Brendan Kay,

“Let’s keep our local businesses thriving!”

I’m planning on stopping by Witney Blanket Hall for a pie and a stroll by the river soon!
