PUFFIN BOOKS – CHARLIE & LOLA

Puffin Books, a leading publisher of children’s literature, is well known for its popular Charlie and Lola series. In these stories, Lola is a lively, imaginative little girl, while her older brother Charlie is kind, patient, and always ready to help her learn and grow. The series engages young readers with its fun, down-to-earth approach to exploring everyday adventures and learning moments.

Puffin Books approached Micro to create an interactive magnetic word grid game featuring Charlie and Lola. The aim was to design a fun, hands-on activity that entertains children and boosts early literacy, letting them rearrange words to form playful sentences — just like the quirky banter in the TV and book series.

The project required durable, high-quality, flexible magnets that could stand up to repeated use and be easily handled by little hands, while capturing the playful spirit of the Charlie and Lola brand.
The set includes approximately 150 pieces featuring simple words and key phrases straight from the Charlie and Lola universe.

Micro delivered a brilliant Charlie and Lola magnetic word grid game using flexible magnetic material bonded to cardstock, finished with a gloss laminate, and precisely die-cut for clean, neat edges. The magnets were provided as a kiss-cut sheet, so each piece can be easily separated for use. A unique circular magnet featuring a playful image of the brother and sister duo was included to add variety and extra excitement.

Both Micro and Puffin Books were thrilled with the result — the word grid game printed beautifully, delivered a real “WOW” factor, and captured the vibrant, interactive nature of the Charlie and Lola brand.

Its robust construction ensures it stays fun and functional, no matter how many times it’s played with.
